Council seeks feedback on Cycle Parking Standards for Development
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has launched a new document titled ‘Standards for Cycle Parking and associated Cycling Facilities for New Developments’ and is seeking feedback from developers, architects, engineers, the public and other interested stakeholders on the new cycle parking requirements for residential and non-residential development.
This document was presented to the Transportation and County Wide Movement SPC in December 2016.
Why We Are Consulting
Provision of secure origin and destination cycle parking is essential for supporting the development of cycling as a practical transport choice. The purpose of this document is to update existing guidance on the provision of cycle parking at new developments as part of the planning process, such that high quality cycle parking and cycling facilities are regarded as an integral part of a scheme and not just an add-on to meet minimum policy requirements.
The document outlines the general principles to be followed when locating cycle parking and associated facilities within a development and gives details of the preferred type of cycle parking stands and layouts.
