Overview

Convent Road, Blackrock links Carysfort Avenue to Avoca Avenue. A key function of this road is that is provides access to Carysfort National School.

The existing path is not fit for purpose and is unable to accommodate existing volumes. As an interim measure, our Traffic Section installed bollards along this section of Convent Road to slow vehicle speeds and provide some protection to pedestrians

It is proposed to set back the existing wall and provide a 3.5m shared area for pedestrian and cyclists from the junction to the School entrance. Agreement has been reached with both land owners to acquire this land. The wall will be constructed with granite stone similar to the existing walls on Carysfort Avenue and the School Gates. The existing street lighting and ESB poles will be set back to the new wall and the overhead ESB cables will be placed underground.

The proposed scheme is shown in the drawing TT-100-18-2014 included below, along with plans and particulars of the proposal.

These are also available for inspection from 2nd December 2015 up to and including 27th January 2016, at the Planning and Enterprise Departments, County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire and at the Blackrock Library, Main Street Blackrock .
