We asked
On the 6th of January 2026 Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council invited the public to make submissions for Clifton/Rathsallagh Teen Space & Natural Play.
The non-statutory public consultation survey for a new Teen Space & Natural Play Space ran from 6th of January to 6th‑ of February 2026.
This feedback will help create a brief and specification for the Teen Space & Natural Play, which will be tendered for construction during 2026.
The consultation aims to:

Gather ideas from the community for the Teen Space & Natural Play Space design

There were 20 responses to the Citizen Space Survey for the Teen Space & Natural Play Space along with 6 email submissions through Dun-Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Citizen Space.
The support represented 69.23% in the submissions for a new Teen Space & Natural Play Space for Clifton/Rathsallagh.
We did
DLRCC under the Public Consultation for Clifton/Rathsallagh Teen Space & Natural Play. Following the public consultation process, the ideas and views of all stakeholders about what should be included in for Clifton/Rathsallagh Teen Space & Natural Play were compiled and included in a report that will influence and create the design of the Teen and Natural Play Space.
We will provide further updates on this play space through our website and social media.

Overview
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council wishes to enhance amenities in the locality of Clifton Park/Rathsallagh Grove, Shankill.
It is proposed to develop some small play and teen elements to provide opportunities for activity and social interaction. It is also proposed to undertake some additional tree planting in the area.
This Online Survey is part of the pre-design stage consultation and will help to inform the final design.
We appreciate you taking the opportunity to be involved.
In recent years local authorities in the Dublin metropolitan area have built small play and teen elements with appropriate features.
Teen areas are increasingly where local teenagers prefer to meet their friends and ‘hang out’ in a safe environment. Below are examples;

Submissions can be made by filling in the online survey below, by email to parksconsultations@dlrcoco.ie or in writing.
Written submissions can be posted or submitted in person to Parks Department, County Hall, 2 Marine Rd, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, A96 K6C9.
Please ensure that your written/emailed submission is clearly marked as: Clifton/Rathsallagh - Enhancement to Amenities.
The consultation opens from Tues the 6th of January 2025 to Friday 6th of February 2026.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
We are inviting members of the community to an in-person consultation to discuss plans to enhance amenities in the Clifton Park area.

All comments submitted to the Council regarding this consultation will form part of a consultation report which will be published. Accordingly, the comments will be included in the report and will be in the public domain. No names or email address will appear in the report.
