Public Consultation Update – Clonkeen Park,Deansgrange Play space

dlr undertook the following community engagement activities, as part of the concept design for a play space in Clonkeen Park, Deansgrange.

  • Engagement with local Councillors.
  • Dedicated consultation sessions and workshops for community members, local groups and schools to share their ideas and feedback.
  • Online Public Consultation Survey open from 22nd of November 2024– 3rd of January 2025.
  • Social media campaigns and posters, flyers and leaflet drops promoting engagement.
  • Two in-person consultation events, one on 2nd of December, from 6.30-8pm at Kill O ’Grange Community Centre, and Primary school consultations at Kill O’ Grange National School on the 4th of December with 2nd & 6th class.

The consultation aimed to engage with the community, to gather ideas and local insight, to form the basis of the new playground design.

The response from the public in relation to this was generally positive. Analysis of the feedback received, indicates that the majority of respondents, were in favour of the addition of play facilities to Clonkeen Park. Based on this positive feedback, it is proposed to proceed with the local play space in Clonkeen Park and playground, including toddler play, for ages 0-5 and 6-11.

The feedback received will help create a brief and specification for the playgrounds to be tendered out to design and build, during 2025.

The attached reports detail this engagement and identifies the key hopes and concerns that were raised during the consultation process.
