Public Consultation Update- Meadowbrook/Ludford, Ballinteer 

Dlr undertook the following community engagement activities, as part of the concept design for the play space in Meadowbrook/Ludford, Ballinteer. 

  • Engagement with local Councillors 

  • Dedicated consultation sessions and workshops for community members, local groups and schools to share their ideas and feedback. 

  • Online Public Survey open from the 20th of December 2024 - 31st of January 2025.

  • Social media campaigns and posters, flyers and leaflet drops promoting engagement. 

  • In Person consultation events, Ballinteer Community School and St. Attracta and Scoil Naithí Primary School consultations with 2nd & 5th class. 

The consultation aimed to engage with the community, to gather ideas and local insight, to form the basis of the new playground. 

The responses form the public in relation to this was generally very positive. Analysis of the feedback received, indicates that the majority of respondents, were in favour of the addition of play facilities to Meadowbrook/Ludford. Based on this positive feedback, it is proposed to proceed with the local play space in Meadowbrook/Ludford, including toddler play and playground for 0-5 and 6-11 years. 

The feedback received will help create a brief and specification for the playground to be tendered out to design and build, during 2025. 

The attached reports detailed this engagement and identified the key hopes and concerns that were raised during the consultation process.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council wishes to develop local playground facilities in the Meadowbrook/Ludford area of Ballinteer.  

The proposed playgrounds will principally cater for local children of mixed age groups up to twelve with supervising adults.

Why your views matter

All comments submitted to the Council regarding this consultation will form part of the report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain. No names or email address will appear in the report or minutes.
