Overview

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is planning to carry out a refurbishment on Moreen Park mini astro pitch and enhance facilities for teenagers at the existing courts.

The dlr Play Policy 2023-2028 has highlighted the need for a Teen Space in the locality. DLR Parks & Landscape Services is asking the community and stakeholders of the Moreen area to complete this questionnaire in the link below, to share their views and ideas on what they would like to see in their local community.

This Online Survey is part of the pre-design stage consultation and will help to inform the final design.

The overarching aims and objectives are set out below;

  • To engage with local teenage groups and other stakeholders to understand the need in the area (Public Consultation).

  • To create a space that teenagers can use to socialise in a safe and enjoyable manner (Social).

  • To deliver a space that facilitates a dynamic use of activities to improve health and wellbeing (Activity).

  • To deliver an active space that caters to various physical and additional needs and encourages teenage girls to use the space (Inclusive).

  • To support the local clubs and groups (Community).

In recent years local authorities in the Dublin metropolitan area have built teen spaces with features where local teenagers prefer to meet their friends and ‘hang out’ in a safe environment. Below are a few examples:
