A New Children’s Play Space in Loughlinstown
Overview
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is planning to build a new play space for children aged 5 to 12 years in the Loughlinstown Linear Park.
The dlr Play Policy 2023-2028 has highlighted the need for both a new children’s play space and an outdoor fitness space in Loughlinstown Linear Park and the fitness space may comprise part of a new teen space. The DLR Parks and Landscape Services is asking residents in Loughlinstown and those residents who regularly use the Loughlinstown Park to complete this questionnaire in the link below to share their views and ideas on the proposed children’s natural play space. We will also be running a similar survey for a proposed teen space nearby. If you are interested in that, please visit here to view the survey for it.
Local authorities are building more play spaces in parks and on greens, most with more emphasis on natural elements than in the past. Below are a few examples:

The new play space will include equipment made from natural materials as well as additional planting to make it a pleasant inviting space.
Submissions can be made by filling in the online survey below, by email to parksconsultations@dlrcoco.ie or in writing. Written submissions can be posted or submitted in person to Parks Department, County Hall, 2 Marine Rd, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, A96 K6C9. Please ensure that your written/emailed submission is clearly marked as: Children's Play Space Loughlinstown.
There will also be creative workshops held with children in Loughlinstown to get their ideas and preferences for the design of the natural play space.
