Cycle Parking for Sports Clubs

Overview

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has been allocated funding from the National Transport Authority to install cycle parking around the County and invites sports club in the County to apply for the cycle parking. 

To obtain the cycle parking, club management should complete the online application form at the end of this page by 30th September 2021. This will allow the Council to support an increasing number of sports clubs who are promoting active travel among their members.

Who can apply?

• All sports clubs in the County are eligible to apply for cycle parking on public areas near their clubhouse or pitch. Cycle parking on private areas will also be considered
• If you have a suggestion for cycle parking in a public place near your club, please email cycling@dlrcoco.ie

What are the types of cycle parking?

The free-standing steel toaster cycle stand consists of 5 cycle stands on a flat steel bar. This will provide parking for 10 bikes. The stand is 4.0m long and 750mm high and 750m wide.

This consultation will allow the Council to support an increasing number of sports clubs who are promoting active travel among their members

What happens next

• The Council will supply and install cycle parking stands on public area near your clubhouse or at a pitch.

What the sports club needs to do:

• It is the Sports Club's responsibility to monitor usage of cycle parking during training times
• Sports Clubs should promote active travel among their members
• Sports Clubs should send on a photo of the stands in use. 

Process:

• Interested sports clubs shall complete the online application form by 30th September 2021.
• The cycle parking racks will be delivered to the sports clubs within 4-10 weeks (depending on demand, procurement, and on Covid restrictions at the time).
