Monkstown Road Cycle Route

We asked
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council sought comments and observations on a proposed cycle route on Monkstown Road from Monkstown Village to Temple Hill in Blackrock. In advance of this, a presentation on the scheme was made to the Elected Members in the Dún Laoghaire Area Committee on June 28th, 2018.
You said
A total of 68 submissions were received through the dlr Consultation Hub Online Survey form and 8 by email to traffic@dlrcoco.ie.
We did
Two public consultation reports were circulated to the Elected Members in the Dún Laoghaire Area Committee and the comments and observations were forwarded to the scheme designers.

Overview
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is preparing plans to introduce a cycle route on Monkstown Road from Monkstown Village to Temple Hill in Blackrock. A Non-Statutory Public Consultation for the above scheme in accordance with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 is being undertaken by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Traffic & Road Safety Section. Submissions and observations on the scheme as proposed are welcome.
Scheme Details:
The main works to be carried out as part of the proposed cycle scheme include the following:
- Introduction of a cycle lane in both directions within the existing carriageway.
- Removal of the central hatching road markings along Monkstown Road.
- Installation of speed alert signs along the route.
In addition to the introduction of a cycle route, the scheme aims to reduce traffic speeds along Monkstown Road in the interest of the safety of all road users.
Why your views matter
The Council are seeking views from the public to help inform the scheme design. This scheme will be placed on public display in the offices of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council from 28 June 2018 to 26 July 2018 and will also be available for viewing on the Council’s website- www.dlrcoco.ie.
