Closed 31 May 2022

Opened 3 May 2022

Overview

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has been allocated funding from the National Transport Authority to deliver cycle and scooter parking to schools.

Any school wishing to apply for cycle and/or scooter parking should complete the online survey below by 31st May 2022.

Who can apply?

All schools in the County are eligible to apply including schools that received cycle parking in 2020 and 2021

What are the type of cycle and scooter parking?

The free-standing steel toaster cycle stand consists of 5 cycle stands on a flat steel bar. This will provide parking for 10 bikes. The stand is 4.0m long and 600mm high and 750mm wide.

The free-standing steel scooter stands provide parking for 20 scooters.

What dlrcc will do:

  • We will supply cycle and/or scooter parking stands to your school free of charge.
  • We will arrange free delivery of the stands to your school.
  • Priority will be given to those who have not received cycle or scooter parking to date.

What the school needs to do:

  • Schools should have adequate space to install/secure the stands in a safe manner once they are delivered.
  • Stands should be located so that they are clearly visible and are easy to access by pupils, i.e. inside the school gate.
  • Once the stands are delivered to the school, they become the school's responsibility with schools signing a waiver to accept responsibility for the stands as part of the application process.
  • Schools should promote active travel among their students and staff.
  • Schools should send on a photo of the stands in use.

Process:

  • Interested schools complete the online application form by 31st May 2022
  • Schools will then be notified about the success of their application.
  • The cycle and/or scooter parking racks will be delivered to schools within 4-10 weeks (depending on demand and procurement).
