Transportation: Phase 2 of St. Columbanus Road Scheme

Overview

Following feedback from the previous public consultation, we have updated and expanded the proposed Public Realm Scheme. Read details of the previous consultation

A Public Realm Scheme is a project to improve public spaces such as streets, footpaths, parking areas and green spaces, making them safer, more attractive and easier for everyone to use.

This project aims to make St. Columbanus Road safer, greener and more welcoming for residents, visitors and road users. It will also improve the parking layout and help prevent unsafe and illegal parking.

The proposed improvements include:

  • New landscaped green areas.
  • Additional tree planting.
  • New bollards in key locations to prevent illegal and unsafe parking.
  • Clearly marked free parking spaces.
  • A raised table at the junction with Dundrum Road to improve accessibility and help reduce vehicle speeds.
  • A new zebra crossing to make it safer and easier for people to cross the road.

The revised scheme extends along St. Columbanus Road from its junction with Dundrum Road for approximately 210 metres to the existing "No Entry" point near Our Lady's National School.

When completed, the scheme will provide a safer, greener, and more attractive environment for residents, visitors, and road users.
