Environment: Draft Litter Management Plan 2027 - 2029

Overview

The dlr Litter Management Plan 2027-2029 sets out our objectives for preventing and managing litter in the County. To help create a cleaner environment, the Plan sets out four key priorities and the actions we will take under each one.

We want to hear your views to help shape the final version of the Plan. As part of this public consultation, you are invited to share your feedback on each section of the Draft Plan.

Why your views matter

Your responses will help to protect the environment and achieve the objectives of the Litter Management Plan for the period 2027 to 2029.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has a population of 233,860 and covers a land area of approximately 12,731 hectares, stretching from Booterstown marsh to the north, Shankill and north Bray in the south, with Glencullen and Rathfarnham to the west. It encompasses the towns of Dún Laoghaire and Dundrum and the business hub of Sandyford Business District. Stretching from the mountains to the sea, the County offers a blend of Victorian coastal heritage, scenic mountain landscapes and thriving urban centres.

It is a county rich in cultural heritage with key visitor attractions including Marlay Park and House, Cabinteely Park and House, Fernhill Park, Blackrock Park, Dún Laoghaire Harbour, and Killiney Hill; every year we welcome thousands of visitors to our County, whether it is for key events such as the Dalkey Book Festival or the Marlay Park Concerts, or to discover the Urban Splash trail, or to visit our beaches, coastal walks, or parks.

The county has significant economic advantages through its proximity to Dublin City, as well as its access to major arterial transport routes of the M50, N11 and N31, as well as being traversed by the Luas Green Line, the DART line and various bus routes including the A, B and E spine north/south routes and the S4, S6 and S8 cross county east/west routes.
