Dodder Greenway

Overview

The Dodder Greenway project aims to provide a high quality walking and cycling route along the River Dodder while simultaneously protecting and enhancing the existing ecology of the river corridor. Following the course of the river, from Bohernabreena in the Dublin Mountains to Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin City Centre, it will serve as a vital linear amenity within the urban fabric of Dublin. Part of the route from Orwell Park to Clonskeagh is in the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council area.

Dublin City Council, in conjunction with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the National Transport Authority, is holding a public consultation on the Dodder Greenway (Sir John Rogerson’s Quay to Orwell Park) and welcomes all submissions and observations on the route options as proposed.

The part of the greenway from Bohernabreena to Orwell Park is being managed by South Dublin County Council.

Scheme Details:

The proposed greenway aims to offer an experience along the Dodder corridor, that is safe, scenic and traffic free. A key feature of the proposed greenway is to enhance the connectivity along the route, both naturally and physically. This will include bridge links where appropriate, enhancement of existing pathways, and protection and connection of existing habitats. Route options consisting of pedestrian priority routes (shared pedestrian and cycle routes) and cycleways are shown on the attached drawings.

Why your views matter

 The Emerging Preferred Route for the Dodder Greenway is being presented after extensive design development and stakeholder engagement. In conjunction with Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council is seeking views from the public to help inform the scheme design. The Emerging Preferred Route will be on display in the offices of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, as follows, from September 24th to October 15^th, 2018

• Dundrum Area Office

The display at Dundrum Area Office will be manned by project representatives on the evening of Thursday 4th October (4pm to 8pm) and the afternoon of Thursday 11th October (1.30pm to 4.30pm).

The scheme will also be available for viewing on the Council’s website.
