There is a lot of local opposition to development in the Sandyford/Kilternan area due to the increased congestion on already congested roads with inadequate cycling, public transport, and pedestrian facilities.
Projects such as the Blackglen Road upgrade and the Carrrickmines/Kilternan road schemes should have been completed by now, but they haven't even started.
The delay in delivering planned access infrastructure is never explained and it creates hostility to housing development.
If there is one thing the next "plan" should do is focus on infrastructure delivery. You can't cycle on a "planned" bike-track or take a bus on a planned roadway. Delivery of hard physical infrastructure by DLRCC is pathetic in the context of the stated ambitions for the county - only the private developers appear to be able to deliver in a timely manner.
