Parks: Shanganagh Park & Cemetery Phase 1 Development

Closed 24 Jan 2023

Opened 19 Dec 2022

Overview

Following a review earlier this year, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council intends to reapply for planning permission in early 2023 to proceed with the addition of an active recreation zone and accessibility improvements in Shanganagh Park.

This work is part of Phase 1 of the 2019 Masterplan for Shanganagh Park and Cemetery complex which aims to improve outdoor amenities for all Shankill residents; balancing active and passive recreation in the park while enhancing biodiversity.

The upgrades to the park will provide much needed facilities for the growing number of diverse sports clubs in the area, and will future-proof the park as Shankill and the surrounding areas continue to welcome new residents in the coming years.

We want to ensure that all members of the Shanganagh Park community are fully informed on what Phase 1 will involve and how this aligns with the longer term goals for the park as outlined in the Masterplan.

In order to keep the community fully informed, we will be holding two public information sessions on the Phase 1 implementation plans on Tuesday, January 17th from 6:30pm until 8:30pm, and Saturday, January 21st from 2pm until 5:30 pm in Woodbrook College, Woodbrook, Bray, Co Wicklow, A98 AW64.

These sessions will provide a detailed outline of the planned development in Phase 1 and will give the local community an opportunity to clarify any queries they may have. We will also have activities for children and young people.

The outcomes from these sessions will inform the new planning submission from the Council in early 2023. There will be a period of statutory Part 8 public consultation following this engagement process where further observations can be made. All are welcome to attend, you can click the link below to register your interest to be kept up to date about the Phase 1 plans for the park and beyond.

On this page you can also find further detailed information on the Masterplan and its goals, previous consultation outcomes, Phase 1 development plans and plans for proposed future development.

If you have any queries on the above or would like more information you can contact parks@dlrcoco.ie.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council have partnered with Connect the Dots on this consultation process. Respondents are asked to consent to being contacted with further information on the Development by either organisation.
