Overview

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council as the Development Agency appointed by Government to promote the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) Planning Scheme made an application to An Bord Pleanála to amend the approved Cherrywood Planning Scheme 2014 (as amended). An Bord Pleanála has advised that in relation to the proposed building height and density review amendments to the Scheme, the Board deem it to be a material change and in accordance with Section 169 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000, as amended, a public consultation stage is required.

Why your views matter

‘Proposed Development in Cherrywood’ in the Cherrywood SDZ Planning Scheme 2014, (as amended) contains clear guidance for land use, building type and development in the SDZ Planning Scheme area and Section 2.9: Building Heights has specific guidance and objectives in relation to building heights in the Scheme area.

In the case of an adopted planning scheme, Local Authorities were directed to review their policies and plans relating to development heights under Specific Planning Policy Requirement (SPPR3) of the Urban Development and Buidling Heights Guidelines (December 2018). Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council as the Development Agency appointed by Government to promote the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) Planning Scheme did make an application to An Bord Pleanála to amend the approved Cherrywood Planning Scheme 2014 (as amended). An Bord Pleanála has since advised that in relation to the proposed building height amendments to the Scheme the Board deem it to be a material change and in accordance with Section 169 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000, as amended, a public consultation stage is required.

Accordingly, submissions or observations are now being sought from interested public and parties as part of a statutory consultation process regarding the review of building heights within the Cherrywood SDZ Planning Scheme area in accordance with Section 169 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).

You are only required to make one form of submission in respect of this consultation. All submissions received will be reviewed and considered, as applicable, by the Planning Authority (Cherrywood Development Agency Project Team (DAPT) ) as part of the SDZ Planning Scheme Building Height and Density Review. Any submissions/observations should be received no later than 5pm on Wednesday 7th September and can be submitted as follows:

  • In writing to the Administrative Officer, Forward Planning Infrastructure Department, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council,  County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire, or
